The story behind 1 oz Proof Gold Buffalo (Year Varies) – (w/Box & COA)
The American Buffalo gold program began in 2006. James Earle Fraser’s 1913 Buffalo nickel supplied its Native American portrait and bison imagery, bringing a familiar circulating-coin design into 24-karat gold. This gold program is separate from the 2001 silver Buffalo commemorative and private Buffalo-design rounds.
What distinguishes this offering
The proof finish is a collecting distinction. It should be compared with the same issue in proof, with matching packaging, rather than with a bullion version selected only for metal weight.

Frequently asked questions
Can I select the date or design shown?
This listing allows the date or design to vary with inventory. A pictured example does not reserve that exact issue. Choose a specifically dated or named-design listing if you are filling a particular gap in a collection.
What presentation materials are included?
The product title specifies a box and Certificate of Authenticity. Retain them with the coin. A complete presentation should be compared with other complete examples, rather than with a loose coin.
Is proof the same as a perfect grade?
No. Proof describes a method of manufacture and finish. A numerical grade, when explicitly supplied, is a separate assessment of condition.
Historical or series background: U.S. Mint archive. This reference describes the background; the supplied condition and packaging are specific to this listing.
